#213 You Can't Legislate Common Sense

California bans text messaging while driving because we need laws to tell us what is incredibly stupid and reckless behaviour.

It is impossible to legislate common sense, especially when existing laws already cover this area. Texting while driving obviously falls under reckless driving and doesn't need a specific ban.

Besides, it'll change nothing. The new requirement for cell phone use in cars to be hands free has done absolutely nothing to get people off their phones in the car. I see the same number if not more people using their phone's while driving.

Rule #213 is You Can't Legislate Common Sense
