Did you see the news about Patricia Dunn being inducted into the Silicon Valley Hall of Fame? Even while her current position is probably going to result in someone going to freakin' prison because she authorized a spying operation on the Hewlett Packard Board of Directors?
Yeah, don't do that. It makes you look incredibly bad. Regardless of what you've done in the past (and have no doubts, Patricia Dunn is a total rockstar, just not right now) it looks really bad to accept accolades for being a star while your company and board are facing federal charges for totally unethical activities.
It would have been far better to reschedule her induction (almost wrote indictment) until the furor over her totally stupid spying program goes away. But then they might have been congratulating her from prison (I doubt she'll be charged though).
What Not To Do is to party like a star while you and your board are being roasted over the fiery pit of unethical and illegal behaviour.
