If you happen to be planning to attend a high school graduation in the WTF backwater called Senatobia, Mississippi then you had BETTER not plan on cheering.

Because, if you do, you'll be kicked out and then they might even figure out some way to get the local police department to issue an arrest warrant for said cheering in flagrant disregard for the assholish rules against it.

Warrants issued for people who cheered at Senatobia graduation in which the aunt of a graduating senior was unable to contain herself and shouted her niece's name as she crossed the stage to get her diploma. She was kicked out of the graduation ceremony and then, a couple of weeks later, got papers threatening her with jail for "Disturbing the Peace" at a high school graduation ceremony by shouting one word.

This is really nothing but school administrators being assholes and I'm going out on a limb and saying there's a deeply racist element going on here too. No idea if SuperNintendo Foster is a white man but I'm going to assume he is or he's been in the system long enough to be "whited" into administrative dickbaggery like this.

This is the same mentality of forcing kids who cannot pay a $10 fee to attend the school's carnival to sit in a darkened auditorium and LISTEN to their classmates have fun. Don't believe that happened? You'd be sadly wrong.

#410 Do Not Strip Search High School Students

Okay, the headline, Quebec teachers strip search students during math exam, is slightly misleading. None of the students were strip searched during the taking of the math exam. 

But the 28 students in the class were told to put their cellphones on the teacher's desk for the test so there'd be less overt cheating. But one cellphone was missing so the genius teachers decided to strip search everyone to find it. Yes, teachers in a high school made their students remove their clothing so they could ascertain whether or not one was holding a contraband cellphone.

All of them. The article does not say whether the illegal phone was found but it seems safe to presume not. So these teachers violated the privacy and dignity of 28 students without cause or authority and still failed to find the phone. 

I hope that the teachers and the school district have good lawyers because I'd absolutely file a lawsuit against them on as many possible avenues as possible.

The principal of the school, walking that fine line, said the teachers acted outside of the bounds of protocol but there hadn't been any disciplinary actions as of yet against these teachers who made 28 students disrobe. Which is, of course, ridiculous. The teachers should be on administrative leave at the very least and should be facing criminal charges potentially (something about child pornography I'd imagine).

Here's a great way to figure out if the school's response is acceptable. Remove the word teacher from the article and then see how it goes. "Quebecois strip search students during math exam." Yep, I'd still investigate and prosecute the holy shit out of them still.

The operative here isn't the teachers involved, it's the fact that 28 young people's privacy and right to dignity was taken from them by some fools with power trips and no common sense who just happened to be teachers.

 The principal, one Principal Thomas Amons is also, quell surprise, a deacon in the local brainwashing cult, I mean, church.

He told the teacher to bar the student entry into the class but the teacher, because she isn't a bigot, refused even knowing she would likely lose her job. Her personal principles were far more important to her than the bigoted and hate-based principles of the principal.

So yeah, in Texas, you can be deemed gay and hated on just because some asshole decides your clothes mark you as gay. Which is to say, you couldn't PAY me to go to Texas.

I think Thomas Amons needs to spend more time reading his Bible, especially that part about not judging others.

On the positive side, the student has gotten an extra-curricular lesson in what kind of assholes he may be facing as he grows up. He may or may not be gay and I don't care one way or the other but he's learning a shitty lesson about asshole adults judging you without even bothering to learn a bit of your character and merely looking and judging based solely on appearances. Pathetic.

Angry parents are demanding that the principal of a Manitoba public school and two teachers be removed, alleging they stood by and did nothing as two Grade 8 students were tricked into chewing moose droppings by an adult chaperone on a field trip. 

Karen Eyolfson says her 13-year-old son, a student at Walter Whyte School in Grand Marais, bit into the moose droppings after being told by a parent chaperone on the two-day canoe trip late last month that the animal feces were chocolate-covered almonds. She alleges that three staff supervisors — including the school principal — stood by as her son chewed the droppings and classmates laughed.

The story: Substitute teacher falls asleep in class, student uses cellphone to snap a picture to show to administrators who promptly bust student for violating school policy against use of cellphones during school. Punish the messenger and, more or less, disregard the message.

Rather than thank the student for bringing to their attention a grossly negligent substitute teacher, the administrators at the Oklahoma school punish the messenger because he broke a school policy of not using telecommunications devices during the school day.

So, if he'd used a digital camera without a cellular connection to take the photo, then taken that camera to the computer lab at the school or home to download it and then email it to the administrators, then everything would be hunky dorey? I doubt it. Seems like these administrators were embarrassed by this teacher's dereliction of duty and sought to diminish the messenger to avoid the message.

The school officials refused to comment on what sort of disciplinary action might befall the sleepy teacher but they were all too happy to discuss the student getting suspended for breaking their stupid rule.

What if the kid had used his cell phone to record a violent crime being committed? Would they still suspend him? Zero-tolerance policies are almost always used in places where people are too friggin' stupid to be able to think for themselves.

I feel bad for people who live in Oklahoma, there's a good reason it's firmly on my fly-over list. I'm sure there are good people in Oklahoma and probably nice things to do but if a state institution is being run by ignorant bureaucratic jackasses then I'd just as soon not visit or contribute my money to their stupidity. And that's money I have a choice over, did you know that most of these backwards ass stupid states take waaay more in Federal aid than they give back? Yeah. And then they have Tea Party rallies to decry entitlements. Dumbasses.

Seriously? So I can presume the school cafeteria was raided shortly after these boys were suspended? I mean, come on, we know there's stuff in there that could be construed as an imitation controlled substance. When I was kid I heard about some other kid that desperately wanted to get high so he smoked some nutmeg. It got him really high, so high he went into convulsions and got to spend the night in the hospital.

Zero tolerance policies are often used as convenient means of removing common sense from any disciplinary proceedings. Its just plain stupid and I'd hope the families of the boys are planning on suing the school and the board for blowing the situation way, way out of proportion to the "crime".

I bet the principal considered putting in a strip club before "settling" on a coffee shop. Because lord knows we need more coffee and less book readerating. Especially in schools where learning leads to thinking which leads to realizing that your state is run by a bunch of dimwitted assholes in big hats.

Texas is the state that wants to rewrite textbooks to include creationism and other totally bullshit religion-based information that will push America even further behind the rest of the world in terms of really educating our children.

They didn't pave paradise because Texas ain't nothing like paradise and they didn't put up a parking lot but they didn't go too far off from the song.

Okay, I am the parent of a nearly 6 year old kid and I can barely get him to pay attention and follow my instructions when there is food or a toy or something he actually wants on the line. Expecting a small child to jump in the line is really, really stupid.

A child that young cannot and should not be treated like an adult who understands consequences clearly (and heck, read other posts here and you'll quickly see that many full on adults have no clue about consequences).

His mother is, rightfully, bewildered that the school would suspend her child for a very minor behavioral problem. My guess is the kindergarten teacher is all but worthless in guiding her charges towards better behavior.

I mean, really, you are going to suspend a child for making a gun shape with his fingers? On what grounds? There is simply no way a pointed finger could possibly be construed as a weapon. The school over-reacted badly to a simple problem and now they look like idiots, which they are.

Palm Beach County school bus driver encouraged brawl, tried to cover it up by putting his hat over the security camera in the bus. He also told the victims that he was going to let the two Latino boys, an 11 and 12 year old, get their butts kicked by three black students because of what they'd said the day before adding "If the black kids whoop your white ass, I ain't going to say nothing. There is more of them then there are of ya'll." Nice.

Think kids that young can't cause real damage? "One of the victims required three staples to his head to close the laceration to his scalp, police said. He also had a swollen nose and forehead. The other boy had a swollen face and jaw."

Which is, of course, to say that Andre Caldwell, the driver of the school bus is a racist dumbass who is likely going to be headed to prison for two counts of cruelty toward a child that could result in physical or mental injury, and one count of culpable negligence. Nice thinking, idiot.

#164 Do Not Ignore Bullying Attacks on Children

When school bullies get out of hand and result in a first grader with a goddamned skull fracture.

The school ignored previous incidents that ended up with the boy losing four teeth and getting kicked in the stomach until the incident where a bigger kid body slammed him into a tree for no reason and fractured his skull.

Three violent episodes, the last putting the very young boy in the hospital, before the school responds? That's two too many, especially since this is a school with 97 suspensions last year for violence, the second most in that district.

Remember, these are elementary school kids, not high schoolers where gang banging and intimidation are the rule of the day. These are little kids abusing and harming other, smaller kids. I am sickened by this story and would be ashamed to be the principal that school.
