Rape case ruling shocks Australia
The judge in the case said that the victim, a 10 year old girl, "probably agreed to have sex with all of you".
Which is, of course, ridiculous, wrong and deeply, deeply troubling. No child can consent to sex, no child could consent to being gang raped. The judge, Sarah Bradley, should be removed from the bench for her shocking lack of judicial qualities. To Australia's credit, they are launching an investigation into other cases in the area and under the judge in question.
To say I'm shocked and disgusted is a gross understatement.
Rule #126 is Do Not Punish Child Victims of Gang Rapes (and let the rapists go almost scot-free).
[Update: Saudi King Pardons Rape Victim
I guess global peer pressure does work from time to time. The outcry around the world regarding this travesty of justice has helped the king of Saudi Arabia to see the light and not further punish a woman who was gang raped. There is hope for the universe after all.]
