Officer Assaults and Arrests 9-Year-Old Boy with Autism in Public School Classroom
The story is that the student, an autistic boy named Roger, had been put into a timeout area in his classroom. He didn't stay there and climbed up the wall. The teacher, rather than addressing this themselves or using one of the school's "Star Guides" to help, chose to call the police.
The policeman who showed up had no idea he was dealing with a special needs kid and proceeded to try and pull him down off the wall. In the process Roger's eye got bashed into the wall and, eventually, the cop got kicked in the face by this kid he was assaulting. The cop handcuffs the autistic boy and arrests him for aggravated assault of a police officer.
Oh yeah, did I mention the kid is 9 and autistic? Yeah.
So, Officer Asshole takes the kid and books him for assault.
The teacher has been removed from the classroom and Roger's parents have removed him from the school and are quite likely preparing to sue the fucking bejeezus out of it and the cops (the cop suit will go nowhere because the cops are part of the system and are not held to the same standards that they hold common citizens too). The cop? Still on the force and still, presumably, thinking what he did was acceptable and justifiable because "that little shit kicked him in the face" nevermind the fact that Officer Asshole was assaulting Roger at the time.
Rule #396 is Don't Treat Autistic Kids Like They Are Not Autistic
